EL pueblo donde se burlaban por no ser tan “macho”, por amar las letras, donde excluían, no era mi pueblo, no era mi comunidad. Se abandona lo que nunca te perteneció. Me querida ex compañera judía creció en un pueblo en el sur de los EEUU y lo dejó atrás cuando completó la secundaria. Tampoco pertenecía, ni le pertenecía el pueblo. Es muy difícil hacer suyo un pueblo o un grupo que se burla, persigue, excluye. Lo abandonas como el pueblo te abandona a ti.

When informed of the plans by a -post hurricane- British investor to build retirement homes and condos in different parts of Puerto Rico, the non Puerto Rican respondent expressed concern for the Puerto Ricans. On the other hand, the Puerto Rican respondent expressed concern for the British. After all, many island and continental Puerto Rican retirees will buy those condos and houses also, and will be neighbors with the expatriates.
