Are there standard definitions for these two concepts? People keep using them to refer to so many different situations that it seems as if they are part of a larger agenda beyond what they are being used for. Do any of the following statements belong in any of those two categories:
- using or not words that are offensive to a group of people
- including or excluding diverse histories and opinions as they relate to particular communities
- preventing or not a person from a particular group from physically attacking a member of another group simply because of the difference
Somehow, it seems as if someone or a group created these two concepts with the clear purpose of putting on the defensive those who believe in a more just and inclusive society.
