Some racist and homophobic experiences were light and quite common for a gay man of my age, thus, gradually forgotten; but quite a few were systematic and outright abusive, including those unforgettable moments when the cruelty came from Latino colleagues and students. I have written extensively on this blog about being a gay Puerto Rican man at CCNY from the 70s until my retirement in 2003 and shared those brief essays with some of my ex colleagues. "O no se quieren enterar o no les importa un carajo", which is really amazing since some of them are making a fortune as experts on multiculturalism. "Patéticos e hipócritas". Well, such is life in the Harvard of a certain type of proletariat.
