SKIN COLOR, RACE OR GENDER AS A DESCRIPTOR Of A CHARACTER

There is a big difference between using a particular descriptor, race, gender, skin color, ethnicity, volume to value a character and boxed him/her in a fixed category, like racists will do, than to use the descriptor as part of a larger context, including history and social mores, to describe provide clues to enlighten the reader with regard to the character's actions . After all, any amateur sociologist knows we are all historical beings.
