(BLACK LESBIANS) Nicole Dennis-Benn: Who’s Allowed to Hold Hands?

A beautiful and well written piece by a very good writer. Hopefully, there are enough people who are not blinded by prejudices, poorly informed regarding morals and religions, or guided by distorted judgments of the other, that can displace the idiots that one has to face every day. The other day, at a group of older gay men, some said how they were not longer meeting with families or socializing with straight people. Sad but true. At least, these older gays had not killed themselves, as a very large percentage of us/them do so. I just lost another one, my best friend: he killed himself by drinking alcohol and not eating for two weeks. His family found him, after not hearing from him for two weeks. And he was not the only friend in my life-time who tried to, or ended up killing themselves. This is why, when some amateur psychologists try to help us with "consejos de botica o libros 'self-help' de corte 'new age', uno se muere (no de agravio) pero de la risa por lo llanito de la superficialidad". To borrow a phrase used by American Black intellectuals: Do not "homoxplain us".
