Every early morning, my neighbor from across the street feeds the neighborhood pigeons. They seem to know when their breakfast is going to be served, and take over the electricity cables, balconies and roofs on the block. I sit in my balcony, drinking my "café con leche", prepared with arábiga beans from Adjuntas, and enjoy the daily ritual. This morning, unexpectedly, I coughed, scaring the flock, that instantly flew away. Since there are lots of cars passing by, I don’t think it was the noise. Like quite a few people I know, most probably, they were afraid of my germs. When it comes to dealing with micro-organisms (viruses, bacteria, fungus), pigeons are also environmentally challenged.
