THE IDEAL PUERTO RICAN AND TRUMP

Not only she had said that she made sure "others" knew she  was Puerto Rican, so that the people she chose to represent would be seen from a different perspective, her husband -a white man- said it too. Say what! Puerto Ricans needed to be represented by a woman who knew very little Puerto Rican history, and spoke limited Spanish?  My internal response was, "honey, Puerto Ricans had roads, urban centers and institutions, including schools before Manhattan had any sense of culture." But here she was, a descendant of Puerto Ricans who grew up outside of a Puerto Rican community in Middle America, and her liberal husband believing Puerto Ricans needed anyone to represent them. If the gringos had created a negative image of Puerto Rican history and had treated some of its people like cattle, what was certainly not needed was a distorted image of who they/we are, much less, her very middle USA manners and limited knowledge of Puerto Rican Spanish and history to achieve such goal. Then, the best representative of a certain type of her USA culture came to power: Trump.
