“Latino men are usually portrayed in not so nice images and related language, resulting in -with the exception of those who desire them sexually- quite aggressive reactions from white people, being white lesbians the worse of them all” was more or less what was stated at a Latino gay men’s party in the Heights. The strong remark was triggered by a conversation about a neighbor of the host, a white lesbian couple, who seems to dislike him. Another guest said that he had met quite a few nice white lesbians and had to disagree, and added, “Some of my friends are white lesbians and they are not all alike.” There was a back and forth discussion on white people, latino men, focusing on the more specific subject, “white lesbians and Latino gay men.” A very interesting and revealing chat while eating pernil, arroz con gandules, guineitos, yuca and avocado salad; and a shot of coquito to help with the digestion; a few shots of coquito.
