SELFIES AND UNKNOWN NEEDS

The photo was not about recording an important moment or capturing the beauty of the scene or subject. It was asking the viewer to enter into the needs of the person taking the selfie. Was it the loneliness she was feeling at the moment or did she want to cross the space separating her from the person receiving the pic and fall into his arms and be held? What was it could not be answered, but the selfie was not telling the full truth. The viewer who received it had been in a similar emotional space when he wrote about it and emailed his blog to so many people asking for something he did not know what it was. Leila Guerreiro wrote about leaving the theater in a similar state, emotionally shaken, but unable to put into a words what she had experienced after listening to a monologue by an ex soldier who fought in a cruel and bloody war.
