The photo was not about recording an important moment or capturing the beauty of the scene or subject. It was asking the viewer to enter into the needs of the person taking the selfie. Was it the loneliness she was feeling at the moment or did she want to cross the space separating her from the person receiving the pic and fall into his arms and be held?
