JUDITH BUTLER SAYS THAT MEN MUST STOP BEING LOYAL TO EACH OTHER AND DENOUNCE ABUSES

In an interview given to El País (4/10/2019) the author is quoted as saying that men must stop being loyal to each other and expose the abuses taking place against women. She is right. Many men seem not to be able to recognize that their control mechanisms hurt others, not only women, but other men and children also; and they keep quiet. Unable to explain when asked what about mothers abusing children, and women keeping quiet, not denouncing the abuses, she digresses and goes into patriarchal systems and the State that supports them. Some people cannot see themselves in a mirror or is it that for her this is a fragile topic to handle, since a few years ago she wrote a letter defending a feminist professor who was found to be guilty of using her power to abuse a male, graduate student assistant. The feminist professor defended herself by claiming to be very demanding and expected excellence from all around her. Abuse is abuse not matter what, be in academia, the home or the street, and work efficiency cannot take precedence over human safety, health, protection and caring for each other. No way, not in my realm of things, nowhere. I wish someone in my neighborhood, woman or man, would have put a stop to the abuses I experienced as a child. Sorry, Judith Butler, the struggles for control of power include many players and many contexts.
