ON CULTURAL APPROPRIATIONS AND DEATH BY DROWNING

In the Epic of Gilgamesh, the god Enki -one of many at the time, 4000 years ago, fighting each other- tasks Utnapishtim to save the world from the flood, and for his good deed, he is granted immortality. In the Bible’s version (a modified tale copied by the Jews when enslaved in Babylonia; not an original by any means), Noah is granted the task by Jehovah to continue the procreation, but the world is punished for being so evil.  No wonder, nowadays, there are so many people scared of being flooded again with no gods to fight each other -some of them were even coming into earth, in drag-; while, at present, there is only one, dictating everyone from everywhere how to behave or they will be drowned. Cultural appropriations are to be watched carefully: esthetics or cultural transformations can be the last of the concerns: absorption for the sake of concentration of power could be the actual goal.
